What is Sorxi?

Sorxi is a first of its kind virtual assistant built by nurses, for nurses. It delivers fast, trustworthy, and fully cited answers to clinical questions — all sourced from expert-reviewed content.

Created by a practicing nurse, Sorxi learns from every question asked, getting smarter with time and shaped by the nursing community that uses it.

We curate knowledge from trusted sources – the inspiration for our namesake “source-y” – which our technology uses to answer your questions.

Simply type in your question and Sorxi will either provide an answer, with explicit references. Or, if it’s not confident the answer is accurate, it will tell you.

Each answer has feedback buttons you can use to rate the quality of response, and an “escalate” button that signals to our educators a question couldn’t be answered – and should be researched.

This means that Sorxi is constantly improving with every question you ask.

A combination of advanced technologies, and human oversight – “Sorxi Safe” ensures each question you ask is answered with the following principles in mind:

  • Transparency – each answer includes a description of sources used, and the limitation of those sources.
  • Verifiability – a reference tool at heart, Sorxi will suggest specific resources for further investigation.
  • Active participation – every user is empowered to rate the quality of answers, and to provide specific feedback on how to make the answer better
  • Nursing expert intervention and oversight – experienced nurses constantly update our knowledge base, approved list of reference resources, and the technology Sorxi is built on

Ask any questions related to the practice of nursing – including disease state, drug, specialty-specific standards, licensing and government requirements.

“Can a CNS prescribe drugs in NY?”

“What are the best practice recommendations for compression?”

“Are there any drug interactions for pioglitazone (Actos)?”

“Convert 20 gtt to mLs – explain your math”

“How should I work with a physician who’s dismissing my concerns?”

Sorxi will only use approved resources, and answer your question with specific references. When it doesn’t know something, it will tell you!

Each answer has feedback (good / bad) buttons, and an ‘Escalate’ button that prompts our team of nurses to investigate how to make the answer better.

So, each question you ask makes Sorxi smarter for the next nurse – it’s part of what we mean by “built for nurses, by nurses”.

Yes, Sorxi is designed to support all areas of nursing – from students, the bedside, and leadership of all specialties

Put simply: Sorxi combines the latest AI innovations with human input to empower nurses with the answers they need.

Sorxi’s knowledge is closed. Meaning it only sources answers from our nursing-expert directed, evidenced-based practice database.

The technology utilized is trained and developed to say “I don’t know” if it’s unsure of the answer.

Each answer includes explicit references, and a section describing limitations of that answer – so you can investigate further.

Just like the most knowledgeable nurse you know, it isn’t possible for any resource – Sorxi included – to be perfect. Sorxi is meant to empower you to make better decisions, not replace your clinical expertise.

Three major differences exist between Sorxi and other ways of finding nursing knowledge:

  1. Closed and curated knowledge base that only references trusted sources
  2. Technology designed to answer complex questions with explicit references, and protection against false answers
  3. Direct contribution from our team of experts and the community of Sorxi users

Compared to Google, Sorxi provides more precise answers to complex questions – without the need to dig through pages of results.

Other AI tools will answer most questions, but without the ability to ensure quality. This is due to hallucination – these tools making up fake answers, and/or they reference knowledge outdated knowledge.

While legacy tools like EBSCO certainly check the “trust” box, they are difficult to search, don’t incorporate live feedback, and do not extend behind their proprietary knowledge bases.

Sorxi’s knowledge base combines three primary layers of trusted information:

  1. Curated and closed knowledge base – including drug, condition, and the best evidenced-based practice resources
  2. Live website searches – to ensure you have access to the most up to date resources from approved government and nursing professional organizations
  3. Authored content – any additional gaps in the above content are filled in by our nursing experts

Our goal is to answer every question nurses ask, especially if it’s likely that question will be asked by other nurses.

These resources are constantly being updated, augmented, and improved based on feedback from you!
